How your ritual is made personal
This working is called The Cooling Water and the Warm Stone. It is worked in two stages. First the heat is taken out with cold water under a pale blue candle; only then is warmth put back, with a warmed flat stone laid over both names under an orange flame. Love added over a fight does not hold, so the cooling always comes first.

- First stage: the pale blue candleA pale blue candle is lit over the names. Pale blue is the colour of calm, of cool air after a storm, and it is always lit first.
- Cold waterCold water is poured into a vessel beside the names and I speak the anger out, naming what you told me was said. The heat is given to the water. I do not add a single loving word at this stage.
- Second stage: the orange flameOnly when the cooling is done do I light an orange candle. Orange brings warmth and friendliness back, the ease that lets two people sit at the same table again.
- The warmed flat stoneA flat stone is warmed and laid over both names at once. It covers the two of you together, so the warmth rests on the bond rather than on one side only. I speak your wish as you wrote it.
