How your ritual is made personal
This working is called The Turned Mirror. A hand mirror shows you once beside a red rose, orange peel and a golden candle, and is then turned face down toward the rose. Allure is not shown, it is carried: it no longer lives in the mirror but in you.
- Your wish, word for wordI read what you wrote about the allure you want to carry. Some people ask to be noticed, some to feel sure of themselves again; I keep your exact phrasing and speak nothing that is not yours.
- Your name paperYour full name and date of birth go on a small paper that lies under the hand mirror. The mirror only ever belongs to one person in this working, and that person is you.
- The golden candleA golden candle is lit beside the mirror. Gold is the colour of warmth that draws people in without asking them, and it lights the glass while the working is made.
- Rose and orange peelA red rose lies before the mirror for desire, and orange peel beside it for brightness and ease. Together they sit where your reflection would fall, so your image is framed by them.
- The one showingI hold the mirror up once, to show you to yourself over the rose, while I speak your name and your wish aloud. It is shown only once; allure that is checked again and again starts to doubt itself.
- Turning it downThen the mirror is turned face down toward the rose. This is the seal. What was in the glass now faces the flower, and the allure is no longer something you look at but something you carry.
- Your written recordWhen the working is finished I write down how it moved, what the candle did and what I noticed, and send that record to you so you know exactly what was made for you.
