- Lighting both flamesBoth candles are lit together, never one before the other. While they catch I read your wish aloud, in the words you gave me, so both flames hear what they are burning for.
- Moving closerAt each sitting I move the candles a finger's width toward each other. I speak both names at every move, so the closing distance is always tied to the two of you and no one else.
