Stubborn To Obsessed Ritual: How The Softened Wax Is Cast

For the proud heart that will not move first. A stubborn partner spell worked with heat only hardens the ground again. This one softens by hand, slowly, and never by flame.

The beeswax, olive oil and linen of the Softened Wax working

What a stubborn partner spell is for, and how it differs from avoidance

There are two ways a person can be immovable and they need opposite treatments, so this is worth getting right before you spend anything.

An avoidant partner retreats. Things go well, they go quiet, they come back. A stubborn partner does not retreat at all. They stand exactly where they are, perfectly present, perfectly warm in person, and absolutely unwilling to be the one who moves first.

That second person is who this working is for. Nothing is being escaped. Something is being defended, and what is being defended is usually a position taken so long ago that neither of you remembers the argument that set it.

Who orders the Softened Wax

  • Someone waiting for an apology that both of you know is owed.
  • Someone whose partner is affectionate in the room and immovable on the one subject that matters.
  • Someone in a standoff where each of you is waiting for the other to go first.
  • Someone whose person says "that is just how I am" and means it as the end of the conversation.

If your person disappears rather than digs in, the Bound Warmth is the right rite instead. Softening a partner who has already left the room does nothing.

How the Softened Wax is cast, step by step

  1. The beeswax is taken cold. Hard, unworkable, resisting the hand, which is exactly the shape of the situation being treated. Nothing about the starting condition is disguised.
  2. A single drop of olive oil goes into the palm first. Not onto the wax. The easing goes into the hand that does the work, and that ordering is deliberate: the softening comes from how it is handled, not from what is applied to it.
  3. The wax is worked by hand alone, and never over a flame. This is the whole craft of the rite. Heat melts wax; it does not soften it. Melted wax loses its shape entirely and then sets back just as hard. A proud person handled with heat does exactly the same thing.
  4. When the wax finally yields, the name is pressed into it. Pressed once. The impression is not tidied or corrected, because a softening that has to be perfected was never a softening.
  5. The wax is wrapped in linen as it cools, and is never warmed again.

Every item on the altar, and why it is there

  • Beeswax rather than paraffin. Beeswax softens under body warmth and holds a shape afterwards. It is the only material that behaves the way this working needs.
  • The single drop of olive oil. Ease. One drop, in the hand. More would make the wax slippery rather than workable, and there is a lesson in that which the record spells out.
  • The linen. Breathable. The wax is wrapped rather than sealed, so it cools at its own pace.
  • No candle at all. This is the only working in the grimoire with no flame on the table, and the absence is the point.

The seal, and why it is never warmed again

The seal is the cooled impression, wrapped and left.

Wax that has been softened and allowed to cool keeps whatever shape it was given. It does not return to the block it was. That is the promise of this rite stated in a material rather than in a sentence, and it is why nothing is ever re-warmed afterwards.

Re-warming would erase the impression and start again, and a working that keeps redoing its own result is telling the wax it was not believed the first time.

What your written ritual record contains

  • The intention. Your words, and what I read the standoff to be defending, which is usually older than the relationship.
  • The resistance. How long the wax held out before it gave. This is measured and written down, and it is the section people quote back to me.
  • The impression. How the name took: cleanly, or shallow at one edge.
  • The cooling. How the shape held, and what that says about how durable the change reads.
  • What moves first. For a stubborn partner the first sign is never an apology, and the record explains what replaces it.
  • Your part. One thing, free, and never a condition of the working.

What I need from you before I begin

Your first name, their first name, what the standoff is about, and roughly how long it has been running, in your own words.

Tell me what has already been tried. With this particular rite the failed attempts are informative: a person who has hardened under pressure reads differently from one who has simply never been asked properly, and the working is set differently for each.

The strengths, and what changes between them

  • Standard Casting — one working of the wax, one record.
  • 3x Casting — the wax is worked on three nights, which suits a position held for years.
  • 7x Casting — seven nights, with the record written as the resistance changes.
  • Fast, Extreme and Ultimate — longer carriage, fuller record.

The higher strengths earn their place here in a way they do not everywhere: wax that has been worked across several nights softens differently from wax worked hard in one, and so do people.

What people notice in the days after

The first sign is never the apology. It is a concession on something unrelated and small. They give way on a restaurant, a weekend plan, a minor argument they would normally have held. That is the position loosening, and almost everybody misreads it as coincidence.

The second is that the subject becomes mentionable. Not resolved. Mentionable, without the room changing temperature.

The apology, when it comes, is usually indirect and arrives inside something else entirely. Waiting for a formal one is the commonest way people miss the fact that they already got it.

Frequently asked questions

Is my partner stubborn or avoidant?

Stubbornness stands still; avoidance retreats. If they stay perfectly present and simply will not move on one subject, this is the rite. If they go quiet and come back as though nothing happened, the Bound Warmth is the one.

Why is there no candle in this working?

Because heat melts wax rather than softening it, and melted wax sets back just as hard. A proud person handled with heat does the same. It is the only rite here with no flame on the table.

Will it make them apologise?

The first movement is never an apology. It is a concession on something small and unrelated, which is the position loosening. The apology, if it comes, usually arrives indirectly and inside another conversation.

How long has the standoff got to have been running?

Any length. A position held for years suits a higher strength, because wax worked across several nights softens differently from wax worked hard in one evening.

Does this change who they are?

No. It softens one held position, not a personality. Anyone offering to remake a person's character is selling you something that does not exist.

What do I get afterwards?

A full written record by email once the working is done, normally the same day: how long the wax resisted, how the name took, what moves first, and one small thing you can do yourself.
