How your ritual is made personal
This working is called The Full Bowl. A ceramic bowl is filled with rice, three coins, a name paper and a sprig of rosemary, and set where it is seen every day. The bowl is never emptied. When the rice runs low, more is added on top.
- I read your householdAbundance is about a home and a purse, not a single payment. From your order I learn who lives under your roof and what enough would look like for all of you.
- The ceramic bowl is chosenA plain ceramic bowl is set out for you alone. It will never be used for anything else, and it will never be emptied.
- Your name paper goes in firstAt the bottom of the bowl I lay a paper with your full name, date of birth and your wish for the home written as you gave it. If others share the household and you named them, their names sit beside yours.
- Three coins are placedThree coins go onto the paper: one for what comes in, one for what is kept, and one for what is shared. I name each aloud as I set it down.
- The rice is pouredRice is poured over the coins until the bowl is full. Rice is the oldest sign of a table that does not run short, and I pour slowly, speaking your name into it.
- Rosemary crowns itA sprig of rosemary is laid on top to guard the plenty and keep it fresh. The bowl is then set where it is seen every day.
- The bowl is kept, and your record sentWhen the rice sinks, more is added on top, never taken away. I send you a written record of the filling, the words spoken over each coin and where the bowl now stands.
