How your ritual is made personal
This working is called The Pillow Sachet. A small white sachet of dried lavender and thyme holds the name paper and rests beneath a pillow through seven nights. On the seventh morning it is taken out unopened and put away where the pillow cannot see it.
- The name paperI write their name on a small paper, and beneath it yours with your date of birth. The paper is folded once toward the centre, so your name faces theirs.
- Lavender and thymeInto a small white sachet go dried lavender and thyme. Lavender is the herb of calm sleep; thyme is the herb of courage, so the dream arrives easily and is not pushed away on waking.
- Your words go inBefore the folded paper is placed inside, I read your wish over it in the exact words you chose. Then it joins the herbs, and the sachet is closed so nothing can fall out.
- The first nightOn the first night the sachet is slipped beneath a pillow. I speak both names quietly once, and leave it. The dream is never forced; the door is only opened a little.
- Seven nightsThe sachet rests there through seven nights in a row. Each evening I say their name once, softly, and nothing more. The herbs do their slow work in the dark.
- The seventh morningOn the seventh morning the sachet is taken out unopened. It is not emptied or checked; what went in stays sealed together, as it was on the first night.
- Put away from the pillowThe seal is that the sachet is put away where the pillow cannot see it. The working is closed, and I write up the seven nights for you and email the record.
