Cleansing Spell Ritual: How The Salt And The Egg Is Cast

A cleansing spell adds nothing. This one draws out. The egg takes the weight onto itself, leaves the house, and is given to running water so that it never comes back.

What a cleansing spell is, and why it removes rather than adds

Almost every working in a grimoire adds something: heat, luck, attention, protection. A cleansing spell is the exception. It takes away, and it is the working that should come first whenever someone describes themselves as heavy, stuck, flat or carrying something that does not feel like theirs.

The reason is simple and it is the most useful sentence on this page. Anything you add to a full room has to fit around what is already in it. A love working, a money working, a road opener all do more after a cleansing than before one, which is why in folk practice the limpia comes first and everything else follows.

Who orders the Salt and the Egg

  • Someone tired in a way that sleep does not touch.
  • Someone who was fine until a particular visit, place, job or conversation, and has not been since.
  • Someone who feels watched or wished-against and wants what has already settled taken off.
  • Someone clearing the ground before a bigger working.

If the pressure is still coming from outside rather than sitting inside, the Protection Spell closes the door. Cleansing empties the room; protection keeps it empty.

How the Salt and the Egg is cast, step by step

  1. A white candle is lit beside your name paper and burns through the entire passing. White because nothing is being coloured or directed here; this working has no target.
  2. Rock salt is taken into the working hand. Salt is the catcher. Without it, what comes off has nowhere to go and settles again nearby.
  3. The egg is passed over the name from the crown downward. Never upward. Direction is the working in a limpia: upward passes lift and spread, downward passes draw and gather.
  4. Dried sage is burned along the same line, in the same direction, so the path the weight travelled is left clean behind it.
  5. The egg is carried far from the home and given to running water. Not buried in the garden, not put in the bin, not left on the property. Running water carries; still water keeps.

Every item on the altar, and why it is there

  • The egg. The oldest drawing object in folk practice. It takes on rather than dispels, which is why it must then leave.
  • The rock salt. The catcher, held in the hand throughout.
  • The sage. Cleanness along the path, after the drawing rather than before it.
  • The white candle. Neutral light. Nothing in this working is aimed anywhere.
  • The running water. The disposal, and the part most home attempts get wrong.

The seal, and why the egg leaves the house

The seal of this working is the egg gone.

Most seals are closures made on the altar. This one is completed by a journey: the working is not finished until what was drawn out is physically away from the home and in moving water. An egg that stays in the house keeps everything it took.

That is also why nothing from this working is kept as a token. There is nothing to hold afterwards and there should not be.

What your written ritual record contains

  • The intention. Your words, and what I read the heaviness to be: yours, borrowed, or inherited from a place rather than a person.
  • The passing. How the egg took the weight, where along the line it resisted, and what that says.
  • What came off first. Cleansings come off in layers and the order is informative. The borrowed layer usually clears fastest.
  • What is not damaged. The record says plainly what is not wrong with you, which for most people is the part they most needed to read.
  • The disposal. Where the egg went and why that finishes the working.
  • Your part. One thing, free, and never a condition of the outcome.

What I need from you before I begin

Your first name, your date of birth if you have it, and when it started, in your own words. The start date is the useful part. "Since March" or "since we moved" tells me more than a description of how it feels, because a cleansing is read backward from the point the weight arrived.

You do not need to name anyone. This working takes nothing off one person and puts it on another.

The strengths, and what changes between them

  • Standard Casting — one night, one passing, one record.
  • 3x Casting — three passings across three nights, which is the traditional shape for something that has been carried for more than a season.
  • 7x Casting — seven nights, layer by layer, with the record written as each comes off.
  • Fast, Extreme and Ultimate — longer carriage, fuller record.

For anything carried longer than a year, the extra nights are the part that matters. A single passing lifts the top layer cleanly and leaves the older one underneath.

What people notice in the days after

Sleep first, almost always. Cleansings show up in sleep before they show up anywhere else, usually within the first two or three nights.

Then appetite and noise tolerance. People report wanting food properly again, and finding company less tiring than it had become.

Then, later, the thing people actually came for: the sense of pushing against something invisible stops. It goes quietly and most people only notice it in hindsight, which is why the record names it in advance.

Frequently asked questions

What is an egg cleansing actually for?

Drawing out what has settled on you rather than shielding you from it. It is the working to use when you feel heavy, flat or tired in a way that rest does not fix, and it is the one to cast before any larger working.

Do I need to do anything with an egg myself?

No. The passing is done on my altar with your name, and the egg is disposed of properly afterwards. Your record ends with one small thing you can do and it never involves buying anything.

Should I cleanse or protect first?

Cleanse first if the weight feels like it is already inside you; protect first if the pressure still feels like it is coming from outside. Most people need the cleansing, and the record will say plainly if yours reads the other way.

Does this take anything off me and put it on someone else?

No. The weight goes onto the egg and the egg goes into running water. Nothing is transferred to a person and no one is named in this working at all.

How soon will I feel different?

Sleep usually changes within the first few nights. The heavier sense of pushing against something takes longer and often goes unnoticed until it has already gone, which is why the record tells you what to watch for.

Can I order a cleansing with another spell?

Yes, and it is the most sensible pairing on this site. Cleanse first, then cast the working you actually came for. Anything added to a full room has to fit around what is already there.
