What a protection spell is, and what this one refuses to do
Search protection spell and half of what you find is really a return-to-sender working: send it back, let them feel it, let it rebound threefold. This is not one of those, and the refusal is the most important line on this page.
Nothing is sent back to anyone. The Blue Bead and the Salt Line closes a door. It does not open a case against a person, it does not name an enemy, and it does not ask for anything to happen to anybody. If what you want is retaliation, I am the wrong table.
What this working is good at is the ordinary, unglamorous problem: a household that has started feeling watched, a run of small misfortunes, the particular flatness that follows too much envious attention.
Who orders this working
- Someone who has had a run of small things going wrong with no pattern to them.
- Someone who feels looked at, in the specific sense that folk practice calls the evil eye.
- Someone who has just moved, separated, or come into visible good fortune, all of which draw attention.
- Someone protecting a household rather than themselves alone.
If what you are carrying feels heavy and already inside rather than pressing from outside, the Cleansing Spell comes first. Protection closes a door; it does not empty a room.
How the Blue Bead and the Salt Line is cast, step by step
- A blue nazar bead is hung above the door, facing outward. The direction is the working. A bead turned inward watches the household, which is the opposite of the intention.
- Your name paper is set behind the bead, on the inner side. What is guarded sits behind the guard, never in front of it or beside it.
- Rock salt is poured along the threshold in one unbroken line. Unbroken is not a detail. If the line breaks while it is being poured it is swept up and poured again from the beginning.
- Rosemary is laid along the salt. Salt holds; rosemary cleans. Without the rosemary this working keeps things at the door rather than clearing what is already standing on the step.
- A white candle is burned down beside the line. White because nothing here is being directed at a person; there is no colour of intent in this working at all.
Every item on the altar, and why it is there
- The blue bead. The oldest protective object in this tradition. Its job is to meet what arrives before your household does.
- The rock salt. A boundary rather than a road. Coarse rather than fine, because the line has to hold its shape.
- The rosemary. Cleanness along the boundary, so the door closes on a clean step.
- The white candle. Neutral. This is the one working where the absence of colour is the point.
- Your name behind the bead. Placement again: the guarded stands behind the guard.
The seal, and why the line is not crossed
The seal is the unbroken line with the candle burned out beside it.
A closed door is a quiet seal and there is no drama in it. Nothing is buried, nothing is burned with a name on it, and nothing leaves the altar aimed at anybody. When people write to me afterwards saying they expected something to happen to someone, the record has already answered them: that is a different kind of working and it is not one I do.
What your written ritual record contains
- The intention. Your words, and what I read the pressure to actually be, which is not always what it looks like from inside.
- The door. Which threshold, which direction, and how the bead sat.
- The line. Whether the salt ran unbroken first time. It often does not, and when it does not that is worth a paragraph.
- The seal. The closed door, and what closing it means in your particular household.
- What lifts first. Protection workings show in absences, so the record names what to look for in the negative.
- Your part. One thing, free, and never a condition of the outcome.
What I need from you before I begin
Your first name, the names of anyone in the household you want included, and what has been happening, in your own words. You do not need to name a person you suspect, and I would rather you did not. This working does not act on anyone, so a name in that slot changes nothing except the mood you order in.
If children live in the home, say so; they are included in the household rather than worked on individually.
The strengths, and what changes between them
- Standard Casting — one night: one bead, one line, one record.
- 3x Casting — the line is re-laid on three nights, which suits a pressure that has been building for a long time.
- 7x Casting — seven nights, and the record written across the whole of it.
- Fast, Extreme and Ultimate — longer carriage, fuller record.
Protection is one of the workings people most often re-order seasonally rather than at higher strength, and that is a reasonable way to use it.
What people notice in the days after
Protection shows itself in things not happening, which makes it the hardest working to notice and the easiest to underrate.
The first sign is usually the end of a run: the small breakages, the bad luck with machines and appointments, the sense of being caught at every turn. It stops, and it stops without anything replacing it.
The second is sleep. Households under this kind of pressure sleep badly, and it lifts early.
The third is that the person you were worried about becomes less interesting to you. Not punished. Less interesting.
Frequently asked questions
Does this protection spell send anything back to the person?
No, and it will not be cast that way if you ask. It closes a door. Nothing is directed at anybody, no name is burned or buried, and no harm is requested. If retaliation is what you want, this is not the working for it.
Do I need to hang a bead in my own home?
No. Everything is done on my altar. Your record ends with one small thing you can do yourself and it never requires you to buy or hang anything.
Is this the same as removing the evil eye?
This working closes the door to it. Lifting what has already settled on you is the Cleansing Spell, which draws out rather than shields. If you feel heavy rather than watched, cleanse first and protect afterwards.
Can a protection spell cover my whole family?
Yes. Give me the first names of the people in the household and they are worked as a household rather than one at a time. Children are included that way rather than individually.
How often should protection be renewed?
Most people who use it regularly renew it seasonally rather than buying a higher strength. Your record will say whether yours reads as a passing pressure or a standing one.
What if I do not know who is behind it?
Better, in fact. This working needs no name because it acts on your door rather than on a person. I would rather you did not guess at one.
Protection Spell
A bead facing outward, your name behind it and an unbroken line of salt. Cast the same day, with your full written record afterwards.
