How your ritual is made personal
This working is called The Flame-Parted Cord. One end of a cotton cord is tied to your name paper, the other to a blank paper that carries no name. The cord is held over a white candle and parted by the flame at its middle, never with scissors. Your end is wound around your own paper with a pinch of salt, the blank end is folded and taken to the far side of the house, and the two ends never share a room again.
